Appearance: Sibari has a petite, small boned, undeniably...feminine appearance. He is on the short side for a man, about 5'5, and he has a very slender, delicate build. This is all the better for his acrobatics, but he is often teased for his small size. However, he is not physically weak, his acrobatics giving him a limber definition, and traveling with the caravan giving him endurance.
His facial features are also very refined and delicate, including a cute button nose and dimples when he smiles. He has a scattering of freckles across his cheeks which grow more numerous if he spends time in the sun. He has wide, dark brown eyes framed with long lashes which would evoke the envy of most girls. One of Sib's most noticeable features is his hair, which is a bright red. He keeps it about shoulder length.
Sibari usually wears comfortable, light clothing suitable for an impromptu performance, but he also enjoy dressing up for a feast or gather. He likes to embellish his clothing with things like bells, beads, and shells, and he often wears colorful scarfs and belt sashes. He has difficulty sitting still for long, and has a tendency to fidget. He is often seen with a juggling ball or two, which he will fiddle with constantly.
Personality: Sibari is a playful person whose greatest goal in life is simply to have fun. He is an entertainer above all else, and he loves to make people laugh. He likes to cheer people up and do little things to brighten a person's day. He is a spontaneous person, and not afraid to follow a whim. Sib can be a risk taker, and a bit of a daredevil at times. He loves to learn knew things and he is insatiably curious, sometimes to the point of being nosy.
Above all, he is passionate. Sibari never does anything halfway. His emotions are fierce and mercurial, and he tends to react to things very strongly. He has been called a "drama queen" before. If he's happy, he is really happy. If he is upset, he can have an explosive temper. The same is true for people. While he is generally a nice person and is friendly to everyone, once he gets to know a person he will form
a strong opinion of them. With friends, he is extremely loyal, and sometimes a bit clingy. He can also hold a mean grudge against someone he dislikes.
He is fiercely independent, and dislikes the idea of having to answer to any one person. Sibari can sometimes be flippant towards authority, and bases respect on individual actions, rather than rank. Of course, he has a lot to get used to dealing with the Weyr hierarchy. Fortunately, he respects dragonriders for the most part. Another thing he has a hard time with in the Weyr is following the candidate schedule. He dislikes having his day strictly scheduled, and isn't the best about being punctual to lessons and chores. In general, staying in one place is a difficult concept for him. He is still a little homesick for the caravan, and misses his friends and family.
His performance skills include juggling, acrobatics, and dancing.
History: Sibari had a rather unconventional upbringing. He was born into a caravan that was a combination of traders and traveling performers. The caravan travelled around Pern, but mostly stuck to the Crom/Telgar region. Sibari's mother, Satira, was a native of Crom who broke tradition when she fell in love with one of the traveling performers, Barlen, and joined the caravan. Growing up, Sibari had the opportunity to travel around Pern with the caravan and encounter all kinds of different people. Although the traveling might have been unsettling to some, Sibari grew up with it so he was used to it, and he had a good childhood. He was surrounded by loving people, not just his parents, but the entire caravan.
Of course, being on the road had its hazards. At the age of four, he almost died of a fever before the caravan made it to a Healer Hall; at seven, he broke his arm riding a runnerbeast alone in the wilderness. As a child, he also had some difficulty dealing with people in the Holds because he was so used to spending all his time with the few other children in his caravan. As he got older, however, he learned about Hold and Craft society and didn't get in trouble for his manners as much when the caravan stopped in one of those places.
He began training in the performing arts at a young age. Barlen was a singer and musician, but Sibari was more drawn to the talents of one of his "aunts," who was a juggler. She taught him how to juggle, first with one ball, then two, then three, and so on. From an "uncle," he learned his acrobatics and dancing. As he reached his teen years, he began to specialize in these arts. He was also beginning to enjoy performing for strangers a lot more.
His teen years were rather turbulent, because of all of the drama between the young teenagers in the caravan. There were only five kids his age in the caravan, so feuds, romances, friendships, backstabbing, and everything else were rampant. They still managed to remain close through those turns, however.
At the age of seventeen, Sibari was becoming an adult, and he thought he knew what he wanted to do with his life. He liked performing and planned to stay on in the caravan. Then, a Search rider spotted him at one of the Holds they visited. The rider extended the invitation for Sibari to be a candidate. After much consideration, he decided to try candidacy and leave his beloved caravan.
