WELCOME TO MOONLIT WEYR!

Moonlit Weyr- New Colors, New Fronts, Same old Pern...
We think.
Hello, I am the admin of Moonlit Weyr, which takes place on one of the western isles, after the last pass of Pern ends. Right now, it is the second turn of no thread, and we have only begun to think on what that means for the future of Pern- and for the dragons and dragonriders who make up our site! We're semi-cannon, so we have a few new colors!

DISCOVERYAfter AIVAS and the dragons/dragonriders moved the Red Star with the antimatter engines, everyone thought Thread would stop right away, some thought that very same sevenday. Obviously, it didn't and wouldn't for the next 50 turns- or years. But at around twenty turns into the last pass, it stopped. Everyone celebrated, and even some Leaders chuckled and shrugged,
"Maybe AIVAS was wrong, after all" they said. But Thread came back for thirty more turns, shocking everyone who had believed it to be the end of Thread forever.
DRAGONWINGSBut it was not so long-gone and unexpected that the Dragonriders and Dragons had much trouble with Holders or the Threadfalls- in fact, it was a pretty easy fall nearly every time. Now, during that last Pass, a Starhall on one of the Western Isles had been set up, and a small number of Dragons lived there with their riders to protect the Starsmen and 'women. Moonlit Weyr(and newly, its dragonhold, cloudvolcano) were set up in two extinct volcanos on the Second Western Isle, near enough to protect the Starhalls' people (there were now several of them as well as the large one)and yet far enough away that the Weyr had plenty of room. For some reason they could not discover, the volcanic stones and minerals (which the herdbeasts the dragons ate injested by way of the plants, and the stones which the dragons chewed to clean their teeth) caused mutations of the baby dragons' colors and sizes.
COLORFULThe new colors seemed like enough to their siblings, in fact, some like the new Sands, were just paler, smaller Browns which often had softer features. But there were some unusual ones, such as the Lilacs- pale to dark violet or lilac Queens who could lead a weyr as well as a Gold, but were smaller than even the Bronzes. Now, some may say that these colors, like the multi-hued Spirals, were outlandish and some people did not like them. But, the colors were not vibrant or brilliant- they blended as well as a Gold might in the right situations, and though some people grumbled, no real complaints were heard.
Now, with many new dragon 'breeds' , or colors, Moonlit has grown larger, because of the number of clutching females there.
NOW- PLOTSWe are now into the second turn of No Thread- unexpected as it was it was not celebrated fully- the weyrwoman and weyrleader decided that Cloud Volcano should become a dragonhold officially. Soon a wingleader and his mate will be set up to lead there under the weyrleader's command.
It's the first week of the season of Snows in the Western Isles, and the air is getting frigid rapidly. Snow has begun to fall, triggering celebrations. The Lord Holder of Nighet has finished planning an indoor Snows Gather at Nighet, and expects many to come for this celebration. There are two clutches on the Sands and sunset has Risen, but she will not clutch. Yet, with two children of the Lord Holder at the Weyr- one as a candidate, and one a rider- murmers of discontent amoung Holderfolk, and complaints about the numbers of 'mut' Dragons: will the peace of the End of Thread last the turn out?
Or will death sneak its ugly head into our lives?
Before anything goes wrong, we must figure out what's going on...In a moonlit Pern...

Right now:
With a Sunset Rising (although she won't lay any eggs) and new plots at everey turn, we're more active than ever! Our main plot is finally beginning, and Sunset Aireth's Flight is so far a drama- though that may be because of who the Rise is >3
New Candidates are always accepted, as are Weyrlings from any minor clutches. There are tons of adoptables and npc's just waiting to be picked up by any members who don't want to create new ones! A White and a Bronze Riders are now up for adoption and there is a 1-turn-old Lilac as well!
~~~~~~~~~~~
HOPE OR LOSS>
Even though Thread has ended, the Weyr is not fully independant of the Holds as of yet, mainly because Nighet is the only major Hold- and has owed the protection from not only Thread but from bandits and other wrongdoers to the Weyr. Cloud is officially the Dragonhold looking to Moonlit, and Miri and K'ron are the leader and lady of the Dragonhold- Miri is pregnant with twins, too! The retired Oldlings- Dragons and Riders worn by age and time- have moved, most of them, to Cloud Dragonhold as well.
But even though Nighet Hold owes its prior safety and in fact, the continued safety, of the Hold to Moonlit's Dragonriders, words of unrest are stirring.
On the upside, soon Silver Dearyth's eggs will hatch, as will Sapphire Valureth's eggs! M'kal of Dusk Rinath is looking forwards to training more Dragonettes and Weyrlings soon!
